Honoring Our Heroes: Why Veterans Deserve a Month

We celebrate various groups and causes throughout the year, but one group often overlooked for extended recognition is our veterans. Given their sacrifices, should we dedicate a full month to honoring them before other causes, like Pride Month?

Why Veterans Deserve More

Millions have served in the U.S. military, risking their lives for our freedoms. Many return home facing PTSD, homelessness, and difficulties reintegrating into society. While Veterans Day and Memorial Day exist, a dedicated month would bring more awareness and support to their struggles.

Recognizing All Contributions

Pride Month celebrates the LGBTQ+ community’s fight for equality, an important cause. But honoring one group shouldn’t diminish another. America has room to recognize both its veterans and its marginalized communities in meaningful ways.

A Call for Action

A Veterans Month could boost support for mental health initiatives, employment programs, and national appreciation efforts. These heroes have given their all—it’s time we give them the recognition they deserve.
